During the World Economic Forum's 2025 Annual Meeting in Davos, global cybersecurity threats were a key concern among international leaders and tech executives. Discussions focused on the growing threat of large-scale cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, financial institutions, and AI-powered systems.
Experts warned that cybercrime could cost the global economy over $10.5 trillion annually by 2030. A major emphasis was placed on the need for public-private partnerships, stronger incident response collaboration, and improved digital resilience across sectors. Nations were urged to adopt secure-by-design frameworks and prioritize cyber hygiene education.
Speakers from NATO, major cybersecurity firms, and government agencies highlighted how geopolitical tensions have translated into more frequent cyber operations, including state-sponsored attacks and ransomware campaigns targeting hospitals and energy grids.
To address these challenges, the WEF launched a new initiative called the “Global Cyber Resilience Pledge,” encouraging member states and private enterprises to commit to cybersecurity investments and transparency in incident reporting.
